Breathtaking Beauty

“Eco Israel Tours offers a terrific opportunity to break away from sightseeing, get some exercise and experience the land of Israel: its breathtaking beauty, the many layers of its history, and its ecological challenges.

We went on a full day hike with Eco Israel Tours. Our guide Yonatan knows a lot about the Jerusalem hills and Jerusalem, particularly about its water supply past and present. He has studied at length and thought deeply about the connection between faith and the environment. Our hike followed the Israel Trail to the ancient village of Sataf. Situated on two natural springs, Sataf sustained itself by cultivating crops. Our guide, Yonatan, made the village come alive as he explained the system the community developed to manage water communally and to give each of its families an equal share. Along our path to Sataf, almond blossoms sweetened the air. Olive trees, said to be hundreds of years old, spread their branches. Brilliant red poppies on slender stems dotted the rocky terrain, and large over ground pipes carried water from the north to Jerusalem. In the distance we could see across the ages of Jerusalem’s history from a state of the art medical facility, to a Franciscan Monastery and beyond to fortress built by Crusaders. It was a perfect day for mind, body, and soul, definitely worth a detour.”

One Great Hike

“I went on a hike from Aminadav to Ein Lavan with Eco Israel Tours. I had an amazing time. The nature was simply amazing and our tour guide had a great knowledge of the areas ecological and historical background. I can only recommend it to everyone who’s interested in discovering the beautiful environment surrounding the city of Jerusalem.”

Gorgeous & Relaxing!!!

“This nonprofit offers delightful half-day hikes. We went through the Lifta Spring Reserve just on the outskirts of Jerusalem – learned a great deal about the history of the area, the spring, and the surrounding forest and city expansion. We even got to visit the only organic farm near Jerusalem. It was so nice to escape the heavy stones of Jerusalem and be out in nature for a few hours, but still learning about the history, environment and even religion of the region. I definitely recommend these tours and hope that when I come back I can go on a different hike or eco tour around town!”

Amazing

“I attended an Eco-Isreal Tour hike in the Judean Forest around the Sorek Spring. The breath-taking natural surrounding was the ideal location to learn about the history of the environment in the Bible. Yonatan, the tour-guide, was extremely knowledgable about the ecological history of Israel, dating back from Biblical to current times. He also incorporated many facts, anecdotes, and stories relating to Israel and current environmental issues and initiatives the country is implementing.

Overall, it was a beautiful and informative hike! I highly recommend it!”
